Why We Are Spoiled For Choice with Shower Heads
Just because you can’t afford to spend £150,000 on an extravagant diamond encrusted bath from Harrods doesn’t mean you should overlook the importance of choosing the right shower.
We live in an age where people are looking to enhance their bathroom experience which explains the popularity of shower rooms and wet rooms.
When it comes to picking the right shower heads in the UK, why settle for anything less than the best when you have so many options?
Fixed or Handheld?
The shower heads you can buy in the UK are generally divided into two camps: hand held of fixed head. However, there are other options including ceiling mounted shower heads and shower heads combined with body jets. A fixed shower head is screwed into the wall to give your bathroom a designer look and because the spray is fixed, you don’t have to worry about water spraying all over the room. On the downside, it can be expensive to install and repair and it is not the easiest to clean.
A hand held shower head is designed to slide into a bracket which is fixed into the wall or on a rail and this enables you to adjust its height. The shower head will be connected via a flexible hose. Although the hand held option doesn’t have the aesthetic appeal of its fixed shower head counterpart, it is easier to clean and you can detach it for a more focused rinse.
It is common for a thermostatic tap to control the water pressure and temperature as this tap works by detecting changes in temperature/pressure and responds accordingly. More advanced models enable you to preset the temperature so you can have the perfect stream of water the moment you turn on the shower. You can even purchase a remote-controlled digital shower which tells you when the water is at the right temperature.
Best of all, you can even choose the shower head design with many UK companies offering options such as a rose head, ceiling head and single mode head. If you prefer a gentle shower for example, the rose head is ideal because it is a wide head with plenty of small holes and delivers a beautiful raindrop pattern. A single mode head is the most common shower head choice because it is the most water-efficient.
When you are thinking of your shower design, don’t overlook the shower head as it is an important element of any stylish or energy efficient bathroom.
